About the seminar...
The Friends is pleased to offer this scholarly seminar as part of its commitment to education . We hope that you will be able to join us and the seminar's featured historian--Dr. James McPherson. Dr. McPherson is a world-renowned Civil War historian with particular expertise in the African-American experience during the war. One of his books, The Negro's Civil War, will be the basis for his discussion. You will have time to speak with with Dr. McPherson and have books signed! You don't want to miss this opportunity to mingle and learn from one of the most knowledgeable and well-respected historians in the world!
Dr. McPherson's discussion will be complemented by a variety of activities, including a field program led by Gettysburg National Military Park Ranger Terry Latschar , who will lead participants on a tour of Gettysburg and discuss the African-American experience during the Civil War with emphasis on Gettysburg.
Participants will be treated to a welcoming reception with Dr. McPherson as well as a lunch, a banquet and a breakfast–all will focus on our theme of African-Americans during the Civil War and will feature special guests you won't want to miss

Seminar Meals
A Friday evening reception that includes coffee and cookies, a
buffet lunch and an evening buffet-banquet on Saturday and a buffet
breakfast on Sunday are included in the registration fee.
Children's
Policy
Any child who attends this event must be 10 years of age or older
and must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian.
Children who attend the Banquet-Only portion of the event must
be 5 years of age or older. All children will be charged the same
fees as adults.
