Land preservation is an important part of the Friends' mission to honor, support, protect and enhance the resources associated with the Gettysburg National Military Park, the Battle of Gettysburg and the Eisenhower National Historic Site. By protecting this hallowed ground, we help ensure that Gettysburg's important lessons will be remembered throughout the generations.

To date, the Friends has preserved more than 400 acres of important battlefield land. The land has been preserved through purchase or through easements.

Key acquisitions include:

•  Home Sweet Home Motel site

•  First Shot Marker site

•  Hoffman Farm, East Cavalry Field

•  20 th Maine Co. B Marker Site

•  Weikert Farm, Taneytown Road

•  Blocher Farm, Barlow Knoll (modern intrusion removed)

•  Shields House, Mummasburg Road (modern intrusion removed)

•  Two Baltimore Pike residences (modern intrusion removed)

•  Shea Farm, East Cavalry Field (easement secured)
