From its beginning in 1989, the Friends' goals have been challenging and diverse—all part of the mission to enhance preservation and understanding of the heritage and lasting significance of Gettysburg.

To date, the Gettysburg Foundation and the Friends of Gettysburg have provided over $6,000,000 to the Gettysburg National Military Park for preservation programs. In Spring 2008, the Gettysburg Foundation--in cooperation with the National Park Service--will open the new Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park.

The Friends' work and accomplishments fall into six major categories (plus miscellaneous):

Land Preservation

Monument Preservation & Cannon Carriage Restoration

Education
