Adams Seminar July 28, 2012

"Strategy at Gettysburg and the Fog of War" presented by Licensed Battlefield Guide Ed Suplee
July 21, 2012 OR July 28, 2012  9 am - 4 pm (approx.)

Why was the Gettysburg battle fought the way it was?  Why did it flow the way it did?  This program will explore key decisions made by the various commanders before the battle, during each of the three days, and after the battle.  What did they see?  What did they know?  What unexpected events transpired via the "fog of war" that impacted their decisions?  What other decisions might they have made?

The day consists of 2 parts, a morning lecture and an afternoon battlefield program.  Our field time will visit key locations of each of the three days of battle to see the field the way the commanders saw it and attempt to understand why they made those decisions.  The attendees will also be given the opportunity to ask those questions "they always wanted to know" about the strategic decisions made at the battle.

The morning classroom lecture (held at the Museum and Visitor Center) will begin at 9 am.  After lunch on your own, we will board the bus for the field program.  This will be a moderate walk over about one mile of occasionally uneven ground.  This walk will take place rain or shine so dress accordingly.  This includes sturdy foot gear.

Register online below or
click here to print out the registration to mail or fax.  Register early, we must have a minimum of 15 participants to hold the program and it is limited to a maximum of 44.  Registration deadline in July 6, 2012.

Hope to see you at the next Adams Seminar!
